GGx the tabletop football game
Tabletop Football for family and friends
What is GGx?
GGx is a modern take on the old bottle-cap football game. Or button football, depending on where you grew up. For generations, bottle caps and buttons became makeshift footballers on floors, tables and hand-drawn pitches. With very little, you could set up a match, invent teams, organise tournaments and recreate football's greatest moments.

You can play with bottle caps and buttons
GGx takes that old idea and pushes it a little further. Thanks to 3D printing, print-and-play has taken on a whole new dimension. These days, it can go far beyond PDFs. At its core, GGx is still bottle-cap football, but with full-colour players printed in PLA. This is a homemade project, the hobby of a dad who, through countless games, has gradually borrowed ideas from other great tabletop football games such as Subbuteo and Tipp-Kick. Everything we do with Gran Gol Xapes can also be done with bottle caps and/or buttons. You don't need a 3D printer... but, damn, 3D-printed stuff does look good!
The pitches, goals, balls, caps and rules have evolved game after game into the version we play today. But I'm not going to be one of those grown-ups who takes UNO far too seriously and starts believing my rules are the right ones. Nope. Your rules are the right ones. Mine —the ones we play at home— are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration. The idea is to play football on the floor or on a table and be able to pack everything away just before dinner.

GGx (Gran Gol Xapes(caps)) is a football game inspired by bottle caps, Subbuteo and a little of Tipp Kick.
GGx started as a way to spend quality time with my son. We learned colours, numbers, the names of countries and cities, and now he has even learned how to cheat. We're currently working on being a better loser... xD
Away from screens and the rush of everyday life, playing gives us time to talk, listen to each other, compete, laugh and somehow jump from football to geography, numbers, probability or whatever else comes up during a game. For me, GGx is a place and a moment where my son gives me his attention and I can give him ALL of mine. I spend a lot of hours in front of a computer and I don't always give the people I love all the attention they deserve. Creating moments where I can do that is, for me, the greatest value of GGx.

In GGx the ball is a chip. If the ball flips, possession changes to the other team!
Inspired by Subbuteo and bottle caps, the designs and versions of the various components have succeeded one another, through play, until reaching the current state.

The design process includes durability tests.

The second model of goal is more resistant to the toughness of the game.
